The creativity trickles in...

Three more faces for the challenge. I am finding that I am in the middle of my own challenge, and that is to actually create every day. That's not happening as I would like, since other things that need to get done NOW or close to now seem to get in the way. I think today I'll take a few blank ACEO cards with me along with a handful of markers and see what happens

Portraits 2 and 3

I've doubled up this morning - here are number 2 and 3.  I used the same markers (Prisma and Copic ) but a different type of paper. Much smoother - I liked the way the markers responded much better.
I promise these ladies did not plan to wear almost the exact same thing LOL ;)

In which Art Squirrels Scamper Through my Head...

So I sat down last night with a handful of art supplies, thinking that I would create something like this:
I

And instead ended up with

I'm not quite sure what happened there, or what the squirrels in my head have been eating. I'm pretty okay with how the surprise art turned out, but I really wish I could create what I set out to do every single time.

Somehow my ideas get lost in my brain or on the way to my fingers ( maybe they get lost in my arm??)

So, tonight I'm getting out the pile o' art things again - who knows what will happen! Maybe I'll set out to draw a miniature landscape and end up with a five legged horse. Which would be quite possible because I can't draw horses worth beans.

Small wonders

Small format art, or SFA, includes any work measuring no greater than 14 inches, or 35.6 centimeters, in either direction. These miniature masterpieces are an enjoyable and affordable way to bring art into your home, either as additions to your decor or as part of a new or growing art collection.

As an artist, I love using my imagination to create little scenes that will fit on an ACEO,

or a 2" x 2" canvas.

Little works of art such as these can be displayed as a whole collection on a shelf, or matted and framed together on a wall in your living room. I hope the miniature scenes you've scene here have struck your fancy or have peaked your interest, and that soon you'll have your own little SFA collection!

Art and Late Night Ramblings...

So, today I decided I needed chocolate and beer... for whatever reason. So off to Kroger I went, and ended up coming home with a few day's worth of groceries plus a couple bags of hershey's kisses and some chocolate covered pretzels, as well as a 6-pack of St. Arnold's Christmas Ale. Which, incidentally, goes really well with white-chocolate covered pretzels.

I also decided to get a little creative, and did a little painting tonight. I made a couple of ACEOs, and in keeping with the theme I mentioned inthis post, I created some colorful, glittery cityscapes.

Here's a little preview of them - you can tell by the shine that the paint was still a bit wet when I photographed them!

They have not been listed yet, but I did list a new painting today, or...yesterday, which I'm very pleased with.

I really enjoyed painting this little scene, and I like how it turned out. I'm excited about creating more: hopefully I'll have another to preview and list soon!

today has been....

argh. frustrating....

so I'm trying to detoxify my mind...

I need to get in a creative mood, because that usually helps - even doodling one little ACEO might do the trick.

I did this one the other night - had fun with a pen and some colored pencils:

I do have an idea for a large painting in my head but haven't started on it, since it's one that will take a bit of time. I'm thinking later this evening I'll do the background - if I start early enough I might be able to add a bit more after that layer dries.

soooo... I'm turning some music on, getting a glass of water to get myself good and hydrated, pulling out a couple of blank ACEO cards and my art stuff, and chilling out - with one ear and one eye on the house, of course.... :P

Kickstarting the creative juices again...

Working full time, and then coming home to take care of a family doesn't leave much time for being creative - bleh! I decided that this evening I'd get a little creative and maybe do an ACEO or two, and here's a sneak peek at them:

Oh yes, that's a section or two from a newspaper that gets thrown here once or twice a week, that I never read. It's good for catching paint drips, I guess.

Anyway - I figured 30 minutes of playing around with art stuffies would do me a little good. Oh, yeah - and the Amaretto and Dr. Pepper helped. a bit.

I hope I don't break the internet....

I've finally taken the plunge, and I have set up my own website! Of course, there is still lots to be done. I keep coming up with more that I feel like I need to add, or I decide that my font is wrong, or I need to rename a page...

And setting up the website is only half of it! I've realized now that I'm trying to become "official" that I really need to pay attention to details like a Tax ID number, or sales tax. Because - who knows - I might end up having tons of sales one day and I'll need to have that stuff taken care of!

I also have been learning the ins and outs of a Google Merchant account - still have to add some things, but that'll get all set up really quickly.

aaannnd... I've listed a couple of new ACEOs in my Etsy shop:

Floating Garden

and Burst of Spring

I hope you'll come take a look at them and my other works - perhaps you'll find something to add to your collection, or perhaps you'll find a great gift for somebody special!

New Listing - ACEO

Just poppin in to post my newest listing - Enchanted Silver Forest, a mixed media original ACEO. This miniature piece of art is on watercolor paper, using watercolor and metallic sharpie marker. I have added this item to my "Independence Sale" section, which, incidentally, I will have available through this Saturday, July 10th.

A Fun Painting Challenge, and a new ACEO

I came across a blog the other day called The Virtual Paintout, which is hosted by Bill Guffey. To participate artists use google street view from a map that is provided on the front page of the blog to produce a painting. This month Hong Kong is the chosen location, and I did a quick 5" X 7" acrylic on art board of some buildings on LinCheung Road.

Artists can submit three works per month, and the location changes monthly. The Virtual Paintout is a really great way to either expand on your subject matter, or just find new and interesting locations to paint - without leaving your home, of course!

Oh and speaking of new and interesting (ha ha ha)-I've listed a new ACEO this morning:
Wavelength is an original ACEO acrylic painting and is available in my shop

Pardon me while I pour myself another cup of coffee...

And in the meantime, check out my Etsy shop and take a look at my newest listing!

I'm off to the craft store today to gather goodies like little canvases, plastic "trading card" sleeves, paints and whatever else I suddenly have to have when I step into the store. Don't tell me I'm the only one who does that :P

Oh by the way - today is the last day I'm offering free shipping so get it while you still can :D

Little Bitty Art

I'm about to start listing ACEO's - I started on one this morning and here it is so far:

I'm hoping to have a few done and listed later today, if my creativity keeps up :)

I'll be doing watercolor, acrylic, marker, mixed media...

Watch for them in my shop! :D
